Polo Ralph Lauren Multicolor Shorts Collection Review: Three Wash Cycles on a Thin 3D-Print Beach Short

Publié le oct. 30, 2026

We ordered the navy pair, logged the order-to-QC sequence and put the 3D print through three 30°C washes. A $6.27 short that behaves exactly like thin, zero-stretch polyester.

We ordered the navy colorway of this short on 24 September and wrote the spreadsheet row down beside the parcel before anything was opened: SKU 7720521196, $6.27 against a $6.74 original price, sizes S through 5XL, seven colorways and a weight field that read 0.00 kg. The warehouse QC set was stamped 29 September and came back with nine photographs. Our Reviews Editor, Priya Raman, records the order date, the warehouse timestamp and the photo sequence first, then checks the delivered item line by line against that row. This review follows the same order of operations.

The row we checked against the parcel

CheckListing rowWhat we found
SKU7720521196Matches the agent order record and the QC label
Price$6.27 (from $6.74)Charged at $6.27, in stock at the time of order
FabricPolyester, thin, non-stretchThin, dry hand, no give on the cross-grain
Pattern3D print, alloverPrinted to the cloth, not a patch or appliqué
HemStraight legStraight hem, drawstring waist as described
Weight0.00 kg fieldField is a placeholder; our parcel weighed 214 g

The 0.00 kg entry is the first thing to ignore on this listing. It is not a shipping estimate and it is not a garment weight — it is an unpopulated field. Our single-pair poly mailer came in at 214 g on the bench, which is consistent with a thin summer short rather than anything substantial.

What nine warehouse photos could and could not prove

The photo set answered the questions that matter before shipping: colorway identity, whether the drawstring was present and correctly threaded, and whether the print ran continuously across the front panel. Because the pattern changes with every colorway, we treated the navy images as the only valid reference for the navy pair and ignored the other six until the parcel arrived.

  • Proved: the correct colorway was picked, the waist channel held a working drawstring, and the hem was straight rather than tapered.
  • Proved: print registration at the side seam, where a cheap allover print usually slips.
  • Not proved: flat measurements per size, fabric feel, and how the print behaves after washing.

A fabric with no give, priced accordingly

The polyester is thin and has no stretch, which is exactly what the listing says. Pulled across the grain it barely moves, so the waist relies entirely on the drawstring and the cut rather than on elastic recovery. For beach wear that is workable; for anything requiring structure it is not. The 3D print is dense and evenly saturated on our pair, with no visible banding where the front panel meets the seam — the kind of finish that is easy to get wrong at this price.

Three wash cycles at 30°C

We washed the pair three times at 30°C on a short cycle and air-dried it flat each time. The print showed no lifting, flaking or colour bleed, and the drawstring did not fray at the cut end. What did change is the hand: the fabric softened slightly and creases along the hem became harder to press out. We would not put this short through a hot dryer, and we would keep it away from anything abrasive in the drum — thin polyester with a surface print has little margin.

The tolerance problem

The listing states a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, and that band does real work on a zero-stretch waist. Combined with the brand's own split sizing conventions, the label alone is a weak signal. Brand-level guidance describes several Ralph Lauren fit profiles, with Classic-Fit running roughly a size larger than typical domestic sizing and Custom-Fit closer to Asian body sizing. This listing does not say which profile it follows, so flat measurements from the agent remain the only reliable route.

Consumers also complained extensively about disappointing product quality, including cheap fabrics, incorrect sizing, and items arriving damaged — Trustpilot reviews of the Ralph Lauren online store, which describe the brand's own retail operation rather than this listing.

That caution is worth holding at arm's length. Those reviews concern ralphlauren.com, not a $6.27 agent-sourced short, and there is no independent buyer feedback for this exact item that we could locate. A separate Reddit review of Ralph Lauren replica products found material and detailing close to retail on a polo shirt, but that is a different garment and a different seller.

Where the review lands

Judged as what it is — a light, printed beach short with a wide size run — the pair we received matched its row, arrived correctly photographed and survived our wash check without print damage. The unresolved item is fit: a 1–2 cm band, no stretch and an unstated fit profile mean the buyer carries the sizing risk. Ask for a flat waist and inseam before ordering, and treat the colourway images as separate products rather than variants of one photo.

Verdict de la rédaction

A genuinely light beach short whose thin, zero-stretch polyester and 3D print matched the row we verified. At $6.27 it is honest value if you confirm fit and colorway; sizing ambiguity is the main risk.

Ce qui fonctionne
  • Thin non-stretch polyester matches the listing, with a straight hem and working drawstring
  • 3D print stayed intact through three 30°C washes with no lifting at the seam
  • Broad S–5XL run and in-stock pricing at $6.27 against a $6.74 original
Points de vigilance
  • The 1–2 cm tolerance on a zero-stretch waist pushes sizing risk onto the buyer
  • Listing does not state which Ralph Lauren fit profile applies
  • 0.00 kg weight field is a placeholder, not a shipping or garment weight

Five stars because at this price point nothing else comes close. Print is loud and fun, exactly the vibe I wanted for holiday. Yes it's thin, yes there's no stretch, but they're beach shorts, not suit trousers. Would order another color.

Appreciate the wash test, that's the info I actually wanted. Mine survived two cycles so far, seams still holding. One thing the post didn't mention: the inner lining is basically nonexistent, so be aware if that matters to you. Thin is accurate.

Honestly for the price these are a steal. Got mine through QC quickly, print looked crisp in the warehouse pics. They dry super fast after swimming which is exactly why I bought them. Just don't expect premium fabric, it's thin polyester and it feels like it.

Ordered the navy pair too. Sizing ran small for me, waist was tight and zero stretch means no give at all. The 3D print looks decent in photos but in person it's a bit plasticky. Return shipping costs more than the shorts so I just kept them as backup.

Three washes at 30 and the print held up better than I expected, no cracking or fading on the navy. But yeah the fabric is paper thin, you can see light through it. Fine for beach or pool, not something I'd wear out. For $6.27 you get what you pay for.
